Bleeker String Quartet

Bleecker StQ–a string quartet–was founded in 2010 by four musicians who wanted to perform über-groovy music, no matter what the genre: Contemporary, World, Pop, Improvisational, & Classical. Their debut performance that year drew four-star critiques and offered them opportunities to perform more works of living composers. Their concerts have included performances with pianist Pablo Ziegler in New York City and California, and collaborations with composers/performers such as Octavio Brunetti, Academy Award and Golden Globe nominee Carter Burwell, Latin Grammy winner Carlos Castro, Steve Cohen, Dan Cooper, Hector del Curto, Gene Pritsker, and Randy Woolf, among others.

Their repertoire includes works by Classical masters like Haydn and Mozart to modern innovators such as Mauricio Kagel and Silvestre Revueltas. To date, they have performed at venues such as Brooklyn Bridge Park, The Cell Theatre, St. Peter’s Church in the Citicorp building, Columbia University,Fordham University, Symphony Space, and the Robert Mondavi Center. In 2014, they were chosen to perform on the opening concert of the TriBeCa New Music Festival, and have also performed on the Composers Circle Series and Make Music NY. The members of Bleecker StQ have diverse backgrounds, being involved in groups such as Absolute Ensemble, DJ Spooky’s ensemble, Ensemble Intercontemporain, Ensemble Mis-En & Eternal Tango Orchestra. The Bleecker StQ members are: Lynn Bechtold & Hajnal Pivnick, violins; Edmundo Ramírez, viola; Jisoo Ok, cello.
