about my work
Eclecticism is my one true style. All styles mingling together, never staying in one place for very long. This reflects my listening habits, which are wide and diverse. Trying to catalog every influential style is pointless here. Instead I will point to common characteristics in my music.

First, it is decidedly non-pop. That is to say I do not work in the pop music style or in any of its primary off-shoots. I do borrow from these styles, but always to transform and comment.

Second, it is inherently rhythmic. Some composers create beautiful melody at the heart of their pieces. Others excel at rich harmonic writing. I am motivated by rhythm in all of its guises: groove, proportion, form.

Third, it is carefully concise. I prefer to come right to the point, say what I want to say, and be done. This does not mean that everything is short, just to the point, even if the point is a long one.

Fourth, it is fundamentally approachable. I choose to be aware of the audience for whom I compose. I strive to make my music open enough for them to find a way in. That said, I still expect that there will need to be a little effort on the listener's part. I work equally well in acoustic and electronic settings and most of my music is collaborative in nature.
